Cabbage Soup Diet
The cabbage soup diet is a fairly radical diet designed for dieters to eat large quantities of cabbage soup for one week. Cabbage soup is very low in calories. The cabbage soup diet is an example of a fad diet because it is intended to be practiced for a short period of time in order to achieve quick but short lived weight loss results.
Many people who have practiced the cabbage soup diet claim to lose 10 pounds in a week. However, health experts warn that it is virtually impossible for such dieters to lose this weight so quickly as fat pounds. Rather, most nutrition experts believe that the weight loss is mostly water weight.

Health Concerns of the Cabbage Soup Diet
A significant number of medical professionals and nutritionists warn against the cabbage soup diet and state that the majority of lost weight is not fat but merely water weight, and therefore only temporary. Another criticism of the cabbage soup diet, in addition to its impermanence, is the fact that it is very high in salt or sodium. In addition, this soup diet provides virtually no protein and for an entire 7 day week. Several cabbage soup dieters have reported that they felt weak and/or light-headed while on the diet. If you do plan to go on the cabbage soup diet, despite these criticisms, also keep in mind that the food taste is quite bland compared to most diets. Nevertheless, you can spice it up.
