Choosing a Healthy Diet
Relating to nutrition, a human diet is the total amount of food a person consumes. Diet habits are the often well ingrained habitual choices a person makes regarding his or her food choices. Even though humans are omnivores (plant and meat eaters), each individual culture, person, and religion emphasizes certain foods and will not eat other types of foods. Healthy nutrition requires proper ingestion and vitamins, minerals, and food energy such as fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. People's choice of diet and food intake plays a key role in their health and life expectancy.
Managing Weight
Dieters may choose a specific diet in order to lose weight, because of they are training in a sport, for the energy it will provide for endurance training such as cardio-vascular running or bicycling. Others may select a diet high in foods that are linked to lower rates of cancer. Yet others choose their diet or avoid certain food because they are allergic to them.

A healthy diet is of course important to healthy living. But when people change their diet, they alter their balance of energy, increasing or decreasing the amount of fat their body stores. There is no shortage of food choices to meet your dietary requirements. In fact, some foods and companies create their recipes in order to meet the wide range of dietary needs.
Healthy Diets
A healthy diet will maintain ideal health and well being (there is a relationship between food and mood). A healthy diet typically involves eating nutrients in the appropriate amounts and from each of the main food groups. Water intake and hydration are also a key component to a healthy diet.
Eating Healthy and Tasty Foods
Eating healthy foods does not mean that you need to adhere strictly to a specific nutritional philosophy, and it certainly does not presume you need to be extremely thin. Weight is actually less important than total body fat. For example, even among adult males, 5 foot 9, who weigh 190 pounds, there is significant variation. As they say, muscle weights more than fat. Unfortunately, it often seems that the weight goes to the stomach and creates a gut. In such cases, it may be helpful to diet and lose a few pounds. You should notice that your body fat goes down. In contrast, there are also a great many 160 pound men who have excess fat because of their diet and/or lack of exercise. The important thing is not to obsess about your weight but to view it in terms of body fat, muscle, and overall health.
